Browse Folder Images on Mac with Previous and Next
If you are used to viewing photos on Windows, one habit is simple: open a photo, then move straight to the next. When browsing on Mac means returning to Finder and opening each file again, a folder of holiday photos, design drafts or screenshots becomes more work than it should be.
PicCaddy's Image Browser opens the images in a folder together. Click Next or press the right arrow key to keep viewing, and use the thumbnail strip to jump to a particular image. It gives you a familiar way to browse a group without opening every file separately.
Choose a folder and start viewing
Open PicCaddy, click Image Browser… in its main window, and choose the folder containing your images. Images are arranged by file name. The top of the window shows the current name, its position in the group, pixel dimensions and file size.
If you are already working in Finder, open the right-click menu's Image Tools submenu and choose Browse Images in Folder…. When folder access is requested, select that directory and grant access. The Finder tools require PicCaddy's Finder extension to be enabled; see the complete guide for setup.
Only the selected folder is included. For example, if a Trip folder contains separate Day 1 and Day 2 folders, choose Day 1 to browse that day's pictures together.
Previous and Next keep you in the viewer
The arrows on either side of the image are Previous and Next. The keyboard's left and right arrow keys switch images too, so you can work through the folder without going back to Finder.
The thumbnail strip at the bottom makes it easy to skip ahead. Click a thumbnail to jump, then keep browsing with the arrows. File-name order follows existing numbering, such as Trip01.jpg and Trip02.jpg.

The actual PicCaddy Image Browser screenshot below uses demo images to show the side arrows, thumbnail strip, and viewing controls. The interface in this screenshot is in Chinese.

Zoom into details, then return to the whole image
Use the zoom-in button to inspect small text in a design or facial detail in a photo. Double-click the image to switch between Fit to window and actual size. Drag a zoomed image to inspect another part, then use Fit to window to see the whole picture again.
The full-screen icon at the top right gives you more viewing space. The rotate-left and rotate-right controls adjust the preview orientation. Zooming and rotating the preview leave the original file unchanged. To save a rotated copy, use Edit image, rotate it in the editor, and save a new file. You can also crop and annotate there.
Keep browsing while you sort
When an image is clearly unwanted, click the Trash icon and confirm. PicCaddy moves it to the macOS Trash and lets you continue with the remaining images. Files can still be restored before you empty the Trash.
If you want to find large files, old screenshots or matching names before selecting images in a batch, use image cleanup by size, name and date. Read the complete PicCaddy guide for browsing, editing and conversion, or visit the product page to download the app.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep viewing the next photo, as I am used to doing on Windows?
Yes. Choose an image folder in PicCaddy, then use Previous and Next or the left and right arrow keys. Click a thumbnail to jump to another image.
Does it include images inside subfolders?
No. The browser reads only the selected folder itself. Choose a subfolder separately to browse its images.
Does rotating an image in the browser change the original file?
No. Rotation changes the preview only. To save a rotated copy, open the image editor, rotate the image there, and save a new file.
